1. What are the Advantages of LPG on Petrol ?

top

  • Combustion of LPG is excellent due to its high octane content.  No additive is required to guarantee high quality performances.  LPG has anti - knocking power superior to gasoline.  LPG's high octane numbers permit the use of higher compression ratio which leads to significant enhancement in efficiency.
  • LPG run car will increase the engine oil drain period, extending the life of spark plugs and in turn the drivability.
  • Adulteration or spilling or theft of LPG is not possible.
  • LPG reaches the engine in pure form resulting in an improved air / fuel mixture and enables refined combustion.
  • There is hardly any discharges of CO ( Carbon mono-oxide) as compared to petrol and diesel since the exhaust fumes contain less harmful substances.  The CO emissions are around 80% less than petrol and hydrocarbon emissions are around 60% less than petrol and Nitrous Oxide emissions are around 80% less than petrol.  Carbon dioxide which contributes to global warning is less in LPG.
  • Due to absence of acids and no carbon deposits the life of the engine is extended.
  • Existing fuel system is retained which can work as an option which in turn increases the vehicle range.

2. Is it Legal ?

top

  • LPG as Motor fuel is now legal, vehicle owners have to use only approved brand of Kits and get the vehicle R.C. Book endorsed by the local R.T.O.

3. Gas & Petrol can work in the Same Engine ?

top

  • Though the Petrol is in the Liquid state it has to be converted into gas before it is burnt in the engine.  Since LPG is naturally aspirated into the engine in a gaseous form, it burns much more efficiently than petrol.

4. Is it Dual Fuel System ?

top

  • You can start and run the car with either gas or petrol by using an electronic change over Switch provided on the dashboard.

5. Is it Safety ?

top

  • LPG is an ideal fuel for your car.  All the joints in your LPG Conversion system are checked for leakage.  The components are of high quality and copper tube are used to prevent rusting & corrosion.  Apart from that the installation is done by trained personal to ensure that there is no chance of any leakage.

To understand this better, certain facts are to be given due consideration

  • Fixed auto LPG tanks are made as per BIS ( Beaure of Indian Standards ) Standards and International Standards to meet all safety requirements.
  • Tanks are doubled walled.
  • All the Vehicles have a crumple zone, In the event of an accident for the tank to explode you really need first to cross the crumple zone which will take most of the impact from the accident and residual force is never capable of exploding the tank.
  • A tank can normally burst only in the event of a fire in the car where the surrounding temperature exceeds 400 - 500 degrees Centigrade which rarely happens in a car.

6. Where Does the Tank Fit in your Car ?

top

  • The LPG tank is fixed in the luggage space of your car.  IT is fastened with metal straps so that it does not move while the car is running.

7. Will the Weight of the LPG Tank affect my Car Suspension ?

top

  • No, Car is designed to carry sufficient load.  This is similar to carrying a passenger with luggage.  Moreover, the LPG tank of 60-litre capacity weigh not more than 20 kgs.

8. How will I know that I should Refill the Gas ?

top

  • The Content gauge on the multivalve and the indicator on the switch mounted on the dashboard shows the level of LPG considering the lower cost of LPG inside the tank.

9. How much Mileage do I get from LPG ?

top

  • 1 Litre of LPG will give approximately 0.9 to 1 time mileage as petrol.  For e.g. if a car on petrol runs for 10 km the same will run for 9 - 10 km with 1 Litre of LPG considering the lower cost of LPG, 40% to 50% cost saving could be expected.

10. Will LPG affect My Catalytic converter ?

top

  • No. LPG will not damage any part of the engine or fuel system.  There is no lead in LPG.

11. How is its Performance ?

top

  • Very low emissions, no smoke, no compromise on the pickup.

12. In the Event of any Leakage will it Explode ?

top

  • The gas diffuses much faster in air than Petrol vapour and looses its ignitability.  This is why a house wife has to repeatedly ignite the electronic above the gas stove after releasing the gas till it reaches a particular gas density around the stove burner.

13. In a Small Car like MARUTI will it not occupy my Luggage Space ?

top

  • A smaller tank is fitted in small cars to facilitate easy removal of Stepney, Torodial tanks ( in the shape of type ) can also be installed which will help to save luggage space.

14. Will there by any smell in the Passenger Cabin ?

top

  • The smell in LPG is added only to detect the leakage.  This is a safety feature.  At the time of installation of the LPG kit a proper leakage test is done and a leakage free Installation is ensured.  However in the event of any smell you can do the ordinary soap water leak test.

15. What is the Procedure for Approval with R.T.O. ?

top

  • On getting your vehicle converted with an approved LPG conversion kit, the Retrofitment Center will facilitate the endorsement in the vehicle R.C. Book by the local R.T.O.  This endorsement allows legal use of the kit in your vehicle and will ensure that the insurance is also covered.
